Terms
Last updated 14 October 2026
These terms apply when you use ITR Filer, which is run by Code Genie Technologies Private Limited. By signing in, you agree to them.
What ITR Filer does
ITR Filer helps you prepare your own income tax return. It reads the pre-filled data you download from the income-tax portal, works out your tax, and makes a return file. You upload that file on the portal and e-verify it yourself. ITR Filer does not file returns, and it is not affiliated with the Income Tax Department, Government of India.
For assessment year 2026-27 it makes ITR-1, ITR-2 and ITR-4, for individuals resident in India. It cannot handle every situation. Where it knows it cannot, it says so, and you should use another way to file.
Your return is yours
- You decide what goes in your return, and you are responsible for it: for checking every figure against your Form 16, Form 26AS and Annual Information Statement, for filing it on time, and for paying any tax, interest or fee due.
- ITR Filer is not tax or legal advice, and using it does not make us your adviser. If you are unsure about your taxes, ask a chartered accountant.
- Your returns are kept in your browser, not by us (see the privacy notice). If your browser’s data is cleared, they are gone. Keep the files you download.
Your account
- You sign in with your own Google account, and you keep it secure.
- Do not misuse the service: do not try to break it or get around its security, do not overload it, and do not use it to prepare returns you are not entitled to file.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. You can delete yours at any time on your account page.
Our responsibility
We work to make the calculations right and keep them up to date with the law, but the service is provided as it is, and we do not promise that it is free of errors or always available. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for tax, interest, fees or penalties you owe, or for losses that come from relying on the service. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that Indian law does not allow to be limited.
Changes
We may change these terms. We will publish the new terms here with their date. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Write to us first at tax-assistant-support@codegenie.co.in, and we will try to resolve any dispute with you.
